Patel, who passed out with a diploma in drawing and painting last year, says that he was highly confused when he thought of starting with the exhibited series of paintings. "And I happened to paint my mind on the canvas. I thought why not represent and give colours to my own thought process," he says.
The paintings, acrylic on canvas and paper, are an interesting collection of energy waves depicted in colours that are associated with different moods. "The human mind is always thinking. These thoughts may be pleasant or unpleasant, they can be of anger, of utter confusion or of grief, and at the same time, the mind gives out energy vibes too," explains Patel. And so, you see the splash of colours; while one canvas dotted with blue gives a serene look, another depicts a turmoil in black and white.
While painting for this second solo of his, Patel says, that he has experienced the joy of freedom, which comes from following one's own thought process.
The exhibition is on at the L&P Hutheesing Visual Art Centre in Ahmedabad, till Feb 5, from 4 pm to 8 pm.
