Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has finalised the list of her party candidates for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls and is ready to announce the same any moment. But the TMC chief is waiting for a nod from the Congress, which remained elusive till Monday, before making the list public.
“We are ready with our list and we will announce it the moment the Congress declares its candidates,” Banerjee told reporters, again making it clear that the seat-sharing process has been finalised and it is only a matter of time before it is announced.
The Congress, on the other hand, is still buying time in finalising its list of candidates as well as concluding its current phase of dialogues with Banerjee over the seat-sharing issue.
A senior TMC leader, who is currently holding talks with the Congress high command over seat-sharing between the two parties in West Bengal, said on Monday Congress leaders in Delhi assured him they would come out with their final opinion on the seat adjustment issue latest by Tuesday.
He also claimed that all the disputes over seat-sharing between the two parties had already been resolved and “theAICC leaders are now busy convincing a section of Congress leaders in West Bengal about the urgency for an alliance with the Trinamool”.
The observations made by the Delhi-based Trinamool leader is a pointer to the fact that a section of Bengal Congress leaders is unwilling to go for an alliance with Banerjee. The Congress had won six Lok Sabha seats in the state during 2004 polls, while the Trinamool bagged only one seat.
Interestingly, two Congress leaders in West Bengal, MLA Deepa Dasmunshi and former MLA Abdul Mannan, have given enough indication on Monday that ground level Congress workers are displeased over the issue that lucrative seats in South Bengal were not given to the Congress.
The allaince is expected to be based on 14/28 seat sharing basis, with Congress contesting 14 seats. The Congress is likely to get Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, Raigunj, two seats in Malda district, three in Murshidabad district, Bolpur, Purulia, Arambagh, Bankura and Jhargram. Congress sources said the seats like Bolpur, Purulia, Arambagh, Jhargram and Bankura will be difficult for the party to win.
Also one of the bone of contention is Krishnanagar seat, where Congress wants to pitch in Mahua Moitra, against Banerjee’s choice of actor Tapas Paul.

tapas pal is an actor not fit to render any help to the development of the state.mahua moitra? who is she? does she even belong to the constituency? wasn't she sacked from her previous job in UK? what work has she done in the constituency to stand for an election? why should we the people of the constituency vote for her? satyabrata mukherjee should win if people who do not belong to the state or have not shown any inclination to the constituency contest for responsible positions. also why doesn't rahul gandhi make proper dispositions as a mp instead of making false promises? again does congress want to win this election at krishnanagar after the anti wave of jyotirmayee sikdar? i'm wondering if the country is at the respite of people losing jobs and landing back to their so called country from where they had picked up their roots to find further roots in the name of job
