Kolkata Left Front chairman Biman Bose today alleged Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee was using Railway funds for Trinamool Congress’ publicity.

Claiming that OB vans, used for live telecast, had been hired along with sundry artistes at the expense of the Railways for covering programmes of Banerjee, Bose said these funds could have been used for compensation to the families of those killed in the recent stampede at New Delhi station.

“Even though she always harps on the cause of humanity, where was her humanity when she brushed off the serious incident saying such things happen?” Bose told reporters here.

Bose alleged that Banerjee was only laying foundation stones and flagging off trains. “But who knows what happens to those projects and trains after that,” he said.

Bose reiterated his oft-repeated charge that the Trinamool Congress was hobnobbing with the Maoists and that it had a “close tie-up” with the ultras.

He also claimed the Trinamool Congress was supporting divisive forces in the Darjeeling Hills and Dooars area in north Bengal.

“We in the Left want harmony among all people while the Trinamool is trying to divide the hills and plains people on ethnic lines,” he said.
