Kolkata The state government has taken strong exception to Railway Minister’s Mamata Banerjee’s constant non-cooperation with regard to her security and will write to the Union Home Ministry on the issue. Banerjee’s refusal to cooperate with the police led to her convoy car being hit by a truck on August 9 and causing her injury, said senior state police officials.

“A VVIP enjoying Z plus security is not supposed to make a sudden stop on the road. It cannot be called a security lapse, it’s an accident and at best you can call it a safety lapse,” a top state official said. The government ordered a CID inquiry into the incident today.

Both the state government and Trinamool Congress MP Shubhendu Adhikary have filed cases against the erring truck driver, Gurjar Singh.

In February a panel chaired by the ADG (IB) that reviews VVIP security sent a note to the MHA mentioning the areas where Banerjee does not cooperate with the state government. “The MHA gave a very innocuous reply saying they would see what they can do,” informed a senior Home Department official.
