Ahmedabad A member of Thangadh Nagarpalika in Surendranagar district was allegedly beaten up and robbed of Rs 50,000 and a gold chain by four persons on Sunday.

The incident is believed to be a fallout of an earlier dispute between the victim and the accused. The Thangadh police have lodged a case of robbery and causing grievous injury against the accused who are absconding.

The victim, Dahyabhai Dalwadi in his complaint, has named four persons identified as Vasram Bharwad, Haribhai Bharwad, Valko Bharwad and Bakabhai Bharwad.

According to the police, the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon when Dalwadi was passing through the Than railway crossing. Following a heated exchange, the four attacked Dalwadi with wooden sticks and iron rods.

Sub-Inspector K H Sadiya, who is investigating the case, said, “The attack was a fallout of a court case between the accused and the complainant. We are trying to trace the four.”
