Man booked for bid to kill wife

Pune, September 23 Twenty-year-old Sunitabai Patil was allegedly set ablaze by her husband and in-laws for not getting Rs 2 lakh from her parents as demanded.

The police have filed a case against Manohar Patil (28), Jijabai Patil, Meena Patil of Pune and Pandurang Patil of Dhule on the basis of a complaint filed by Sunitabai with the Sangvi police.

In her complaint, Sunitabai accused her in-laws of harassing her mentally and physically.

She said that on September 15, they took away all the gold jewellery she was wearing before setting her ablaze.

Sunita was first admitted to Yeshwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital and then shifted to Jawahar Medical Hospital in Dhule.

Inspector Vijay Sawant of crime branch is investigating the case.
