Ahmedabad A 27-year-old man was hacked to death, allegedly by six people, over a petty dispute late on Friday. Three of the accused have been arrested, the police said. The deceased has been identified as one Navalsinh Vaghela.

The Odhav police said the incident was a fallout of a monetary dispute. The deceased’s brother, Kiritsinh, had not returned Rs 300 that he had borrowed from the prime accused, Takhaji Thakore, during a gambling session in Chamunda Chappra, nearly a month ago. Navalsinh, who had promised to pay back the amount in a day, never met Takhaji after that, the police said.

On Thursday, Takhaji came to Kiritsinh’s residence and demanded his money back. “Kirtisinh, however, tried to shoo away Takhaji and hurled abuses at him,” said a policeman.

Enraged by this, Takhaji and five others barged into the Vaghela residence. An altercation ensued between Navalsinh and the accused when the former tried to stop them from entering his house. “Takhaji, who was carrying a sword, attacked him, killing him on the spot,” said police. “Takhaji, his brother Diplo and an accomplice, Dherio Thakore, have been arrested on murder charges. We are on a lookout for the other three, who are at large,” Inspector J B Rana said.
