Ludhiana A local court sentenced a man to life imprisonment for killing his brother Sarup and sister-in-law.

Ravi Kumar of Mata Bhag Kaur Colony was also fined Rs 5,000 or additional imprisonment of three months.

“Keeping in view the nature and gravity of the offence committed by the convict, he is sentenced to life imprisonment,” said Ludhiana District and Sessions Judge G K Rai while pronouncing the verdict.

According to the prosecution, the deceased couple, Ram Saroop and wife Kiran Bala, lived with their children at their residence in Mata Bhag Kaur Colony.

The brothers had a dispute after Ravi Kumar demanded a share in the property.

On April 4, 2006, a conflict took place between the brothers, after which Kumar killed Saroop and his wife.

A case was registered against Kumar under Section 302 of the IPC on April 8, 2006 at the Focal Point police station in Ludhiana.
