New Delhi Claiming to have solved the murder case of a 17-year-old boy, Chandan, who was killed on the Rao Tula Ram Marg last week, the South Delhi police arrested Jitender Sharma (22). Sharma has confessed to the crime and has been sent to judicial custody.

Police said Sharma had started liking a girl who was having an affair with a boy called Jatin. He allegedly killed Chandan to frame Jatin in the case.

Chandan’s body was found near Kendriya Vidyalaya in Sector 8 of R K Puram on February 27. He was strangulated with shoe-laces. He was a Class XI student of the government school in sector 5 of R K Puram and stayed in Vasant Vihar where his father worked as a domestic help.

DCP, South district, HGS Dhaliwal said that during interrogation Sharma confessed he was going steady for the past few years. However, he started liking his girlfriend’s younger sister who was having an affair with Jatin. He plotted Chandan’s murder hoping to shift the blame on Jatin.

On February 26, he took Chandan and another boy went to Faridabad in a private car where they purchased liquor.

“Sharma, another co-accused Sonu, and the boy strangled Chandan. He then wrote a letter in Chandan’s name saying that Jatin was responsible for his death,” the police said.

The police added that the accused, after killing Chandan, brought the body to RK Puram and dumped it near the Kendriya Vidyalaya.
