Man held with counterfeit currency in Godhra

Vadodara Godhra town police arrested one person on Monday for possessing counterfeit currency with a face value of Rs 98,000. Equipment for printing the notes were also seized.

The raid followed a tip-off that one Mehendi Hassan Moiz Dalal, a resident of Vahorwad area, has counterfeit currency consignment.

“We kept a close watch at Bhurav crossing. Around 1.30 am, Dalal passed through on his bike (GJ-17 R 8400) and we intercepted him. We recovered bogus currency of Rs 100 denomination. We found one bundle from his pocket and eight others from the bike,” said a policeman.The police said the Forensic Science Laboratory experts confirmed that the currency was fake .

“Dalal confessed that he got the notes from one Suresh Darji from Rajkot for Rs 4,500. He was asked to circulate them in the market. But he is yet to give us Darji’s address. He also admitted that he had given fake notes of Rs 10,000 face value to one Shabbir who owns an auto garage in Godhra,” said the officer.
