Ludhiana The city police today nabbed a migrant with blank paper cut out in shape of money. The accused, Rakesh Kumar, a resident of Bihar, was wandering outside the State Bank of India branch, near Fountain Chowk, when he was apprehended by two policemen.

The police said Rakesh was looking out for somebody to dupe. He was loitering aimlessly near the bank when the police officers, sesning something fishy, stopped him. Upon questioning, Rakesh said he had come to deposit money in the bank. He, however, did not divulge his account number, after which they conducted a search and discovered the bundle.

Police said, barring a single Rs 500 note, all the other notes were pieces of paper.

He was then immediately arrested.

“The modus operandi of these people is that they look out for an easy target, get friendly with the target by helping him in some manner. In this process, they replace the bundle of

fake notes and dupe people,” said Shamsher Singh,

Station House Officer, division no 8.
