New Delhi, February 7 A 25-year-old man killed a 15-month-old child at his residence in Dabri in west Delhi on Wednesday night. Police said the child was the son of the woman, with whom he had an illicit relation. The accused, Sanjay Kumar, was arrested today from Dabri.

Kumar was staying with one Soni Ramzan (21) at his Dabri residence, police said. Soni's husband, Ramzan, died a few days back after which she moved in with Sanjay.

"On Wednesday night, Sanjay went home in an inebriated condition and had a fight with Soni. Hearing noises, Soni's son, Sunny, woke up and started crying," a senior police officer said. In a fit of rage, Sanjay started beating up the child. He reportedly flung the child. Sunny became still and that was when Sanjay came in his senses, officers said. Police said Sanjay fled from the spot.

Soni called up the police. "By the time we reached, the child was dead. We have transferred him to the hospital for post-mortem," the officer said.

Sanjay is a resident of Fatehpuri in UP and worked at a factory in Mayapuri, officers added. Soni and her elder son five-year-old Raja Babu have shifted to their original residence, officers said.
