Gurgaon A 35-year-old man allegedly stabbed his wife and four daughters on Sunday night in Gurgaon. The incident took place around 10 pm in a secluded spot between the Gurgaon and Basai Dhankot stations and came to light at 8.25 am on Monday when a Railway Police patrol team spotted the injured lying in the bushes.

The accused has been identified as Dharmender (35), a native of Patna in Bihar. He was living with his wife Meena (32) and four daughters Sujata (14), Shalini (11), Alka (5) and Sonali (3) in Bhiwani Enclave near Sector 10.

As per the complaint lodged by Meena, Dharmender suspected her of having an affair with someone and often beat her and the children after a fight over this issue.

“Dharmender suspected that Meena had an affair with someone. He fought with her, asking her about the fathers of the children,” said Sultan Singh, the investigating officer.

According to the Railway Police, the accused offered to take the family to a temple in a village, but instead took a detour towards the railway tracks near Basai Dhankot.

When Meena questioned about the route, Dharmender said it was a shorter route to the temple. He then took the family to a secluded spot, where he pulled out a knife out and stabbed Meena, the police said.

“When Sujata tried to stop Dharmender, he attacked her. He eventually stabbed all his daughters and fled from the spot leaving his family bleeding in the fields,” the police added.

The victims were rushed to the Civil Hospital where Sujata, Shalini and Sonali were declared brought dead. Alka and Meena are out of danger. The postmortem also confirmed that the deaths were due to stab wounds, which led to excessive bleeding.

No one has come forward to claim the bodies. This is the second such incident in the past two months where a father has killed his children and stabbed his wife. Last December, a similar incident was reported from Sikhopur village where the accused killed his wife and two minor children. The accused was arrested but the motive behind the attack is still unclear. On being asked why no police personnel could spot the injured at night, Singh said it was dark and the patrolling team could not spot them.

Dharmender is absconding and the Railway Police have registered a case against him under Sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder) and 201 (destruction of evidence) of the IPC.
