Charan Rai, who worked as a Class IV employee with the Railways, was allegedly involved in an extra-marital relationship.
“His wife Kishmira and 20-year-old daughter had come to stay with him from Uttar Pradesh only a few months ago. On Friday, the couple entered into an argument over Rai’s alleged affair. Their daughter, irked over the fight between the two, went outside the house. It was then that Rai strangulated his wife in a fit of anger,” a police officer said.
“Rai tried to escape but was nabbed by the locals and was later arrested,” the officer added.
Kishmira’s body has been kept at the Kalka Civil Hospital for postmortem.
