The patient, Raj Kumar, had gone to the quack, S N Mandal, complaining of fever. Mandal initially prescribed Paracetamol tablets, but when Kumar did not recover, gave him a Voveron injection on the left arm. “The injection was administered in a wrong way. It was not even required to treat fever,” said Dr Girish Tyagi, Registrar of the Delhi Medical Council (DMC).
A day after the injection was given, Raj Kumar lost sensation in his left arm. “Mandal instructed him to keep massaging the arm but when the condition did not improve, the patient went to the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital. A medico-legal case was then registered at the hospital and the police got in touch with the DMC to investigate the matter,” added Dr Tyagi. The DMC has told the police to take necessary action against the ‘fake’ doctor, he said.
