Lucknow A man ended his life before administering poison to two of his daughters leading to the death of one of them in Madiaon area on Monday. A altercation between him and his wife is stated to be the reason behind the incident.

Rajesh Kumar was employed in Himachal Pradesh for the last one year and was insisting that his wife, Kanti, accompanies him. But, she was reluctant and stated that tiger straying in the place that he was working would kill her children.

Station Officer of Madiaon police station Anupam said: “We are yet to trace the bottle containing poison brought by Rajesh. The reason behind the man taking the extreme step is the tiff with his wife.”

On Sunday evening, Rajesh returned home in an inebriated state and offered sweets to their daughters — Deepika (6), Sheelu (4) and Radhika (2). As they all had the sweets, he offered water mixed with poisonous powder around 8.30 pm. As Sheelu and Radhika started vomiting soon after drinking the water, Kanti and Deepika did not drink it.

Rajesh had already consumed the poison. Kanti raised an alarm and informed the neighbours as the condition of Rajesh and the two girls deteriorated.
