Chandigarh, March 5 A 25-year-old shot himself dead at his rented accommodation in Sector 23 late on Tuesday night. Manoj alias Manohar, belonged to Nainital and was working as an accountant at Vikas Chain Jewellers in Sector 22.

He shot himself in the head using a .32 revolver, which belonged Sri Parkash, the security guard of the jewellery shop. Manoj and Prakash shared the second floor accommodation of house number 3459 in Sector 23.

Manoj was last seen speaking to his girlfriend on phone by Prakash. Later, he reportedly locked himself in a room while Prakash was sleeping in the other room. The incident came to light early Wednesday morning when there was no response to the repeated knocking on the door by Prakash.

After the door was broke open, Manoj was found lying in a pool of blood in the bathroom, with the revolver by his side.

While no suicide note was found on his body, the police seized a bundle of greeting cards addressed to him by his girlfriend. Manoj is survived by his parents and elder sister.

Investigations in the case are on and the picture will be clear once his parents arrive from Nainital, police said.
