Pune Additional session judge Shalini Phansalkar–Joshi on Friday sentenced to life imprisonment a father-son duo who stabbed and killed a person. The convicts include Sripad Madhav Tare (56) and his son Aditya (25) of Sadashiv Peth. Public prosecutor Ujjwala Pawar examined seven witnesses in this case. According to the prosecutions story, the convict had killed Mandar Shripad Desai (28) of Sadashiv Peth on October 10, 2006 opposite Girija hotel on Tilak Road. Desai’s relative and complainant Shailesh Govind Godbole (32) of Sadashiv Peth was also assaulted by the convicts. The dup suspected that Godbole had an extra maritial affair with Sripad’s wife.

On the day the incident occurred, the complainant and the deceased went to Girija Hotel for dinner along with two-three friends. Sripad and Aditya called Godbole out of the hotel and started beating him. Desai came in to mediate and stop the fight. In a fit of anger, Sripad stabbed Desai in stomach following which he succumbed to injuries. Police sub-inspector UK Yadav was in charge of the investigation. Pawar said, “Court has considered medical evidence and the blood stains sample of the deceased on the convict’s cloths during the trial.”
