Management institute celebrates golden jubilee anniversary

Chandigarh, January 3 The Regional Institute of Co-operative Management (RICM) celebrated its Golden Jubilee on Wednesday.

A symposium on the theme ‘Vision of Co-operatives in 2050’ was organised.

Chief guest Captain Kanwaljit Singh, Punjab Cooperation Minister, inaugurated the programme.

Dr Niraj Pasricha, Regional Director of RICM presented a report on the achievements and programmes conducted in the institute.

He said that new degree programmes in Agri Business and Computer Science are likely to be introduced soon.

Captain Kanwaljit Singh said that only co-operatives provide equal opportunities on humanitarian grounds to the poorer sections of the society. He added that the Cooperatives need trained professionals to face the challenge effectively.

He asked the co-operative leaders and workers to be innovative. G H Amin president of the National Co-operative Union of India emphasised on the need for professionalism and upgradation of technology to cope with market forces.

A number of experts presented papers on the day.
