Panchkula, January 6 The Panchkula administration was caught napping while hundreds of residents of Mansa Devi Complex suffered throughout the day due to traffic chaos as thousands of people gathered to attend the Ruhani Satsang that was held here today. It was only after the residents called the Panchkula SP, that the traffic personnel were pressed into service to regulate the traffic.

The City Magistrate, Yogesh Kumar, said, “The administration was not aware about the event and the organisers did not take permission of the administration before holding the

function.” However, the organiser of the satsang, Gurinder Singh, said the organisers had informed the Panchkula administration along with the HUDA about the function.

“We faced chaos as thousands of people gathered here for the Ruhani Satsang. People parked their vehicles outside our houses and defecated in the open outside the residential area. As for the traffic chaos, the vehicular movement was halted as far as the Mansa Devi T-point,” said the convener of the MDC Residents Welfare Association, Divender Mahajan.

He further added that the area between the Mansa Devi Shrine and the Saketri Road was covered with tents and a large number of stalls were put up all around.

Mahajan said, “We called the SP, Sandeep Khirwar, to improve the situation after which traffic officials were pressed into service. ASP Manish Chaudhary himself had to come to the spot to man the traffic.”
