Manu scripts East Bengal win with a hat-trick

Kolkata Manu Kumar of East Bengal bagged 6 for 63, including a hat-trick as his team trounced George Telegraph by 176 runs in the two-day CAB League match on Wednesday. Replying to East Bengal’s 415 for 7, George folded up for 239. Faizal Rias scored 110 and Ujjal Ghosh gave him good support with 72. Together, they gave the total some respectability.

In another match, Ballygunge United made 281 for 6 replying to Shyambazar’s 442 for 7. The match ended in a draw. Jay Shankar Sarkar made 87 for Ballygunge, while Himadri Paul scored 63.

Netaji Subhas Institute and Bhukailash Sporting Club also settled for a draw as, replying to Netaji Subhas’ 298 all out, Bhukailash could only manage 186 for 5. Atul Sharma top-scored with 91. For Netaji Subhas, Ambarish Mitra returned with 2 for 23.

Panel meet on Saturday
The CAB tournament committee will meet on Saturday to decide the fate of the JC Mukherjee Trophy final. Mohun Bagan were present at the Jadavpur University Campus ground yesterday to play the final, but their opponent Kalighat didn’t turn up. The committee has received umpires’ report and is set to award the match to Bagan.

Meanwhile, former CAB joint-secretary Samar Paul today lashed out at the present CAB management for the JC final fiasco.
