Kolkata Suspected Maoists today killed a meat shop owner of Chandra in West Midnapore district whose outlet was frequented by the personnel of joint security forces engaged in anti-Naxal operations. The Maoists suspected he was acting as an informer.

The body of the victim, who has been identified as Asit Raut, was spotted this morning a kilometer away from his village.

“Asit was a CPM supporter. The jawans of the Chandra camp used to buy chicken from his shop. They would chat with him for long hours. Asit used to share information with the jawans,” a police officer said. Late Friday night, a group of 12 armed Maoists had taken Asit away from his house.

Same kind of Maoists posters were found in Jadavpur and Gariahat area also.
