Kolkata The Maoists have agreed for talks with the Centre provided a judicial inquiry is ordered into the death of Maoist spokesperson Cherukuri Rajkumar alias Azad.

Days after the Trinamool rally in Lalgarh, this was the message from the ultra-left group, said social activist Swami Agnivesh. He said he would try to convey the message to the PM. “Chief Minister Budhadeb Bhattacharjee is good man,” he said. “He should come forward for a dialogue with the Maoists to establish peace in Junglemahal.”

Agnivesh was part of the August 9 rally and had urged for a stop to the violence. Earlier, he had demanded judicial inquires into the deaths of Azad and PCAPA leaders Lal Mohan Tudu and Sidhu Soren.

He said on July 21, he had proposed to Home minister P Chidambaram to hold a judicial inquiry into Azad’s death, but the minister had turned down the request.

Supporting Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee’s claim that Azad was killed in a fake encounter, the Left ally RSP, meanwhile, has criticised her for mentioning it at a public meeting. Kshiti Goswami, RSP leader and state PWD minister, said: “We also believe that the Maoist leader was killed in a fake encounter and Central government should take initiative to reveal the truth.”

But Banerjee, he said, should have raised the issue in the Parliament or in the Cabinet.

Goswami is one of the ministers in the state cabinet who opposed the imposition of UAPA on the Maoists. He had forced the police to acquire permission from the government before arresting any Maoist under UAPA.

Maoist link with ISI by Chanchal Dutta on 14 Aug 2010

What goverment will do about Mamata Banerjee who has direct links with Naxal & Maoist . ISI is giving money from middle east.In reality, Agnivesh and Medha Patkar are conspirator to divert the attention of public. P.M. cannot stay relax.Parliamentary committe should investigate the matter.

Dialogue with the Maoists by P.Banerjee on 13 Aug 2010

There's hardly any possibility of talk being held bet govt and the Maoists with Swami Agnivesh as mediator.Maoists' demand for judicial probe into the death of Azad would stand in the way as govt must not agree to the demand. It's also known to the Maoists themselves. So the entire episode is a hoax. Thanks Mamata's given this escape clause to the Maoists.
