Maoists set forest beat office on fire

Kolkata Following the bandh called by Maoists, an armed group of around 40 person set a forest beat office on fire at Marguma in Purulia district on Sunday night. However, no body was reportedly injured in the attack. According to police sources the attack was carried out by the Ajodhya Hills squad of CPI (Maoist). On the other hand, railway authorities decided to suspend all train movements at Urma railway station under Balarampur police station for an indefinite period following a threat issued by a group of armed Maoists group on Saturday night. A K Gerekar, DRM Adra said the railway police maintained vigil at the station. The Maoists and PCAPA had called for a bandh on Monday in protest against the killing of Umakanto Mahato, who was wanted by the CBI in connection with Jnaneswari train carnage. “The situation in Purulia district is likely to improve after the recent deployment of one battalion of IRB force from Nagaland,” said Rajesh Yadav, SP Purulia.
