Matkar, Adhvaryu star with the ball

Mumbai Dhrumil Matkar and D Adhvaryu did the star turns for Lilavatibai Podar and St Mary’s ICSE from Mazgaon respectively, as they bowled their teams to victory in the Giles Shield Cricket Tournament Plate Group at Azad Maidan on Friday.

Raj Mehta and Nishad Gabhawala scored 91 and 80 respectively, as St Mary’s posted a respectable 244 for the loss of just four wickets. Adhvaryu then returned figures of 6-49, to dimiss New Era from Grant Road for a paltry 167, and clinch victory for his team.

Meanwhile, Matkar ended up with remarkable figures of 7-17 in a low-scoring contest, as Parle Tilak Vidyamandir were shot out for just 59, in reply to Lilavati’s 122.

Vishal Ganachari and Satkal Sangale starred in Shardashram’s win.

Shardashram Vidya Mandir Boys (Dadar) 303 for 4 (Vishal M Ganachari 72, Saikal D Sangale 77; Amey B Lad 3-70) bt S V Nabar Guruji (Dadar) 181 (Amey Lad 74).
