Pune, January 8 A determined Mauritius side edged past favourites Thailand to win the fourth game of the Symbiosis International Football Tournament 2008 at the Station Workshop EME Ground, Range Hills in Khadki on Tuesday.

Mauritius won 6-5 in what was pitted to be a close encounter anyway. And the game saw three Mauritius players and one Thai player being substituted as the game ended in a 1-1 tie. Osman scored for Mauritius in the 10th minute even as Komach Ghushi scored a stunning equaliser four minutes later. In a game that was as competitive as any, as many as three Mauritius players — Lukanda Mohammad, Vikrant and Jay — were handed out yellow cards. In contrast, Senaman was the only Thai to get booked in a game that was played in good spirit.

In the earlier match, Sudan blanked Uzbekistan 3-0, with Hujaifa Salahledin scoring in the 20th and 25th minutes before Ahmad Gorashi sealed their opponents’ fate in the 59th minute. Four players — two from each side — were substituted during the 90 minutes.
