Lucknow, January 2 The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has blamed the “feudal forces” for the low voter turnout and its defeat in the Ballia by-elections.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, BSP supremo Mayawati said more than 50 per cent people could not cast votes in Ballia and besides there was an understanding between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Samajwadi Party.

She said the BJP candidate lost his deposit while his party had finished second in the last elections.

Reacting to the results of Gujarat and Himanchal Pradesh, the BSP leader said the Congress has been accusing it for the debacle which is not true.

She said the BJP votes have gone down in Gujarat but the Congress could not encash the anti-incumbency factor.

Mayawati said the Congress was not at all prepared for the polls in Gujarat and Himanchal. She said the BSP has achieved its goal in both the states as its votes have increased.
