Mayawati restructures party ahead of Lok Sabha polls

Lucknow, January 4 Stung by the poll debacle in Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh and Ballia, the BSP chief Mayawati has dissolved all the “Bhai Chaara” committees in Uttar Pradesh as well as in other states.

She has also changed the zonal coordinators in the entire state giving more responsibilities to Cabinet minister Naseemuddin Siddiqui and KK Gautam.

In the wake of the forthcoming parliament elections, Mayawati has asked the coordinators to submit weekly reports regarding the possible candidates and their performances.

In a meeting of the party legislators, members of Parliament, zonal coordinators, Mayawati said the party workers should gear up for the Lok Sabha elections.

She added that the Bhai Chaara committees will be formed again as it has to play a major role in the coming elections.

Mayawati said that results of Gujarat and Himachal have been encouraging as “the poll percentage of BSP has been increasing in both these states”.

She said that in Uttar Pradesh there is a great need for the revamp of the party and that is why she has been changing zonal coordinators.

Rajya Sabha member Munkaad Ali has been given the charge of the entire west UP, while Cabinet minister K K Gautam will look after the eastern regions.

Cabinet minister Naseemuddin Siddqui alongwith senior BSP leader Jugual Kishore will look after Jhansi, Chitrakoot, Banda, Kanpur Dehat and other districts in the Bundelkhand region.

Besides, Maya has specially appointed Brijesh Pathak, Daud Ahmad and Gandhi Azad to manage the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
