Lucknow Chief Minister Mayawati has slammed the BJP for falling back on its age-old election plank of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya.

According to Mayawati, the Ram Mandir is more of a poll rhetoric for the BJP, which they invariably remember during the elections. People are now aware that the unfortunate Ayodhya incident occurred due to the nexus between BJP, Congress and the SP. Taking a dig at Congress, she said, the party cannot escape by making statements before the media.

Commenting on the bonhomie between former BJP leader Kalyan Singh and SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, she said the leader who had emerged as a hero during the Ayodhya incident now smiles in the company of SP that extends its support to the Congress at the Centre. “It is clear that the Congress, SP and the BJP are no different in character and they want votes by playing with the emotions of the people. They have nothing to do either with the people’s interest or the national interest,” she said.

According to her, it would not be a surprise if the Congress also joined hands with Kalyan Singh. She said parties like SP and the Congress are more dangerous than the BJP. People who have faith in secularism can remain alert from parties like BJP, “but parties that have a dual character are dangerous.”
