Municipal Commissioner Dr Roshan Sunkaria said the main focus of the Corporation during the coming financial year will be on developmental projects including upgrading of facilities in Sector 17 and setting up of a tertiary treatment plant of 10 MGD capacity.
Under the JNNURM project, the distribution lines for tertiary-treated water will be laid all over the city. Toilet facilities will also be provided in all the green belts and parks will be set up while the capping and closing of the dumping ground at Dadumajra will also be carried out. Interestingly, Rs 150 crore has been earmarked for revising the pay scales of the employees.
Budgetary support in the form of grant-in-aid to the tune of Rs 235.66 crore is anticipated from the Chandigarh Administration during 2009-10. There are no additional levies or increase in their corresponding rates.
The meeting was held under the Chairpersonship of Mayor Kamlesh. Dr Roshan Sunkaria, Commissioner and other members of the committee, including Jatinder Bhatia, Anil Kumar Dubey, Anu Chatrath, Jagjit Singh Kang and P K Mukherjee were also present.
