MC puts off food street plan

Chandigarh, January 11 The foundation stone for the food street, to be set up on the road dividing Panjab University and PGI in Sector 14, which was to be laid earlier on January 15, has been tentatively put off by a week. The change in the plan has come about as Vice-President M Hamid Ansari will be visiting PU on January 16.

The MC Chandigarh will allot eight kiosks at the night Food Street facing the PGI, these kiosks will be constructed at a cost of around Rs 14 lakh. The exact allotment procedure for running these kiosks has still not been decided by the MC. In addition to the kiosks, the MC will also construct public utilities for the visitors.

“The work is in progress for the construction of the kiosks and would take three to four months to complete,” says SE Yogesh Gupta, while talking to Newsline today.
