The decision to start the drive was taken in a meeting attended by Mayor Pardeep Chhabra, Municipal Commissioner and MC Chief Engineer S K Bansal. The drive will be conducted in a phased manner.
In a statement issued today, the Mayor said the sanitation drive will also include the removal of debris on V-3 roads, as was suggested by Union Minister of State for Finance Pawan Kumar Bansal in his speech during the last MC House meeting.
He said efforts would be made to create awareness among the residents of these areas to upkeep this cleanliness exercise and maintain it with close coordination with the area councillors
A special committee would be constituted shortly for the development, improvement and maintenance of slums, colonies and villages.
“The office of Medical Officer Health, in coordination with the Engineering Wing of the MC, will undertake the drive. The sanitation drive is on the priority list,” he added.
Meanwhile, Pardeep Chhabra, along with Munish Bansal, distributed shawls to the poor. The Market Welfare Association of Sector 46, today honoured Chhabra, and on their demand he announced Rs two lakh for the augmentation of the light and maintenance of park in the market.
