In a complaint to the Election Commission, the president of the legal cell of the district unit, Dharamjit Singh Khera said in order to complete various development works; the state government has thrown the model code of conduct to the winds.

Khera said, “The municipal authorities are issuing payment cheques in the back date to hoodwink the Election Commission.

The DCC appealed to the ECI to take strict action against the erring officials. The complaint said, “It is submitted that strict action be taken against the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation and they may be prevented from such activities as their actions are aimed at influencing the poll outcome in favour of the ruling alliance.”
