The kiosk will provide directory information about the colony where it is installed, enable online bill payment round the clock, provide geographical map of Delhi, enable online reservation of railway, DTC and air tickets. The kiosk will also provide information about entertainment and cultural activities taking place in Delhi and help in advance booking of movies.
The scheme is expected to become functional from April, Gupta said. “The scheme will give multiple government services under a single window. The kiosks will be installed within the housing societies to add to their utility,” he said.
Gupta said the project involved public-private participation and will help MCD earn revenue. "The installation cost, capital expenditure, software development and service provision will be the duty of the private party involved against advertising rights at the kiosk.
Bids below Rs 300 crore will not be accepted. “We will go for global tendering and only one party will get the rights in order to maintain uniformity. Though there will be a person to assist people operate the system, they will be expected to operate it themselves. We have not, as of now, decided to charge any service tax for using the system,” he said.
Gupta said that tenders would be invited as soon as the MCD House cleared this scheme.
