Pune, January 2 MacDonald's India today opened its first "full-scale" and "free standing drive thru" restaurant Golden Arches, at HPCL Retail outlet opposite the KPIT Cummins IT Park in Hinjewadi. Spread over an area of 2400 sq feet with a total seating capacity of 116 people, this is McDonald's eighth outlet in Pune.

The outlet is the first as a part of strategic tie up between McDonald's and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited to set up and operate outlets, stated a press note. McDonald's would be opening 4 restaurants at select HPCL retail outlets in Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad and Bangalore and the arrangement will be soon replicated in Western and Southern India.

S P Chaudhry, ED-Retail, HPCL said, "HPCL has segmented customers based on their behaviour, lifestyle, perceptions, and attitudes i.e., psychographic understanding to deliver the ultimate fuelling experience to the target customer. This new and innovative approach of segmentation has helped HPCL in winning customers for life by delivering unique, differentiated and relevant value proposition to the target customer consistently and benefited the customers by providing relevant offers that addressed their specific needs.

Speaking on the alliance with HPCL, Amit Jatia, managing director Hardcastle Restaurants Pvt Ltd and JV Partner McDonald's India said, "Today customer convenience and service are becoming highly critical factors in driving growth in any industry and key impetus is on product & service innovation and customer orientation. We are pleased to partner with Hindustan Petroleum, as it will give our customers an option to enjoy the McDonald's products even while on the move."

Jatia added, " With this alliance, we will be present at HPCL retail outlets both within the city and on the highways, hence we will definitely increase our penetration in the market and we hope to capture the traffic on the highways and within the cities as well."
