Chandigarh The Gitanjali helpline of MCM DAV College for Women organised an awareness rally on ‘female foeticide and value of the girl child’ on Friday. In an attempt to curb the practice of female foeticide, over 300 students of the college along with several faculty members took to the streets of the city to awaken the society towards the menace.

Raji P Srivastava, Director Higher Education, UT Administration, flagged off the rally after addressing the students of the college. Srivastava hailed the efforts of the college to take the fight against the evil practice of female foeticide outside the campus boundaries.

College principal Dr Puneet Bedi said that it was high time “a war” be waged against the malpractice of killing unborn girls. She also applauded the efforts of the Gitanjali helpline in working towards the upliftment of women.

Later, the students of MCM DAV College gathered at the Sector-17 plaza, where they formed a human chain to symbolise their togetherness and unity in fighting against female foeticide.
