Ludhiana MC House Tax branch today put up notice boards outside famous Thaper Agro and Thaper Food, Tapson Steels and Attar Singh and Sons.

The first three units are in Jugiana while the other is situated on the Gill Road. These units have to be auctioned on January 16 as per notices.

Both Thapar companies have defaulting amount of Rs 1.48 crore and Rs 1.46 crores respectively. Interestingly, both these properties have already been sealed by the banks because of non-payment of loans and they are locked these days.

The move thus has come under a cloud as to how MC will be sealing these properties which are in possession of some bank. Observers say the drive has kick-started as a flop show right from the beginning itself.

The outstanding amount against Tapsons Steel is Rs 10.21 lakh. Attar Singh and Sons is having defaulting amount of Rs 3.75 lakh. More such notices will be put outside more industrial units to recover the amount, revealed the House Tax branch.

Although they have started with big defaulters, but Thaper group units are lying closed since long and hence it seems to be difficult to get any amount recovered from them or even to auction their property.

Police team was sent on Friday morning to get the notice boards displayed outside the buildings. A few persons had tried to remove the boards, but police once again put them back, revealed information.
