Pune, October 3 For the first time in India Pune Vidyarthi Griha’s College of Engineering and Technology (PVGCOET) will be starting a Masters of Engineering (ME) course in Printing Technology for the year 2009-2010. Annouincing this Dr R P Joshi, director of the College said on Friday, “We recently received the approval from the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) for the course.. He added that the course would have 18 seats and would begin by 2009-10, when the state government passes a resolution on the same.

Joshi was speaking during the inaugural function of PVGCOET’s new building. He said that the number of seats for MCA is also likely to be increased. The college is also set to open a hostel for 100 students in Sadashiv Peth with subsidised rates for lodging and boarding.

Speaking about the college’s plan outside Pune, Joshi said, “We have sent a proposal to the state government to start an engineering college in Nasik and are positive about the government’s response.”

Dr Pramod Chaudhari, chairman and managing director of Praj Industries who was the chief guest for the function said that students who opt for core engineering branches like mechanics, chemical, electrical should stick to those branches while taking up a job, rather than falling for job offers from the IT sector. “The manufacturing industry, which offers equally lucrative salary packages and foreign trips, is falling short of skilled manpower. It is the manufacturing industry that creates wealth for the nation and not IT, ” he said.
