Pune, February 25 The Pune Municipal Corporation is all set to triple the remuneration of honorary medical experts from Rs 500 to Rs 1,500 per month for giving consultancy in the civic hospitals.

There has been no change in the remuneration given to the private medical experts since 1993 for providing their service in the civic hospital. However, the Sassoon General Hospital on a query had conveyed to the PMC that it was paying Rs 1,500 as remuneration to its honorary doctors for providing expert consultancy.

Similarly, the civic administration has proposed increase in remuneration of honorary Anesthetic providing their services in civic hospitals and maternity homes. “It has been 12 years now that the PMC increased the remuneration given to honorary anaesthetic in 1996. The low remuneration have been hampering the services in civic hospitals,” Municipal Commissioner Praveensinh Pardeshi said in the proposal tabled in the standing committee.

The civic administration has proposed increase in the remuneration of an anesthetic to Rs 500 from Rs 300 for major operations, Rs 300 from Rs 150 for semi major operations, Rs 150 from Rs 75 for minor operations.
