According to the findings of several social organisations across the state, the level of groundwater contamination is increasing in the state with each passing day.
According to D Chakraborty, a senior scientist of Central Ground Water Board (CGWB), several types of groundwater contamination have been witnessed in almost all parts of the state.
He will present an extensive report on groundwater contanimation based on the findings of the board and NGOs, at a two-day national seminar to be held in Allahabad on February 9 and 10.
The seminar, being organised by NGO Janhit Foundation, brings together experts from organisations like People’s Science Institute Dehradoon, Toxic Link, New Delhi, Centre for Science and Environment, New Delhi alongwith senior scientists from the Central Ground Water Board.
Anil Rana of Janhit said, “We are happy that the CGWB is supporting us and is presenting its important findings at the seminar.”
