Meet on role of media

Pune, January 31 The Pune chapter of Public Concern for Governance Trust (PCGT), headed by the former Cabinet Secretary to the government of India, B. G. Deshmukh, realising the role the media plays in moulding public perceptions and reactions by the various government organisations, the PCGT is organising a workshop on the "Role of the Media in Ensuring Good Governance".

While the media will be represrented by Yamaji Malkar, Mukund Sangoram, Shishir Joshi and Vinita Deshmukh, while Avinash Dharmadhikari, Nitin Kareer, Ujwal Chowdhury and Asim Sarode will reprsent the citizens. Hon'ble Justice (Retd) P. B. Sawant, former Chairman of the Press Council of India and former Chairperson of the World Association of Press Councils will moderate the proceedings.

Topics like ethics in journalism, investigative journalism, sting operations, bringing about public awareness, building up public opinion, sensationalism, commercialism and the like will be discussed. The open-house meeting will be held at Police Recreation Club on the Ganeshkhind Road at 4-00 pm on Saturday.
