Haven taken thousands of devotees into the trance of the spiritual world, for over the last few decades, Satya Sai Baba aka Satyanarayan Raju has been a guru for many. And as he celebrates his 83rd birthday, his ardent followers have planned grand celebrations in the city to commemorate the occasion.

With a line up of spiritual programmes, the Sai Seva Samiti, Pune will begin the day with chanting Omkaar, followed by Prasanti Bhajan. “All his devotees in the city will gather for the function at Pradhyapak Ramkrishna More auditorium in Chinchwad. During the Prasanti Bhajan and Nam San Kirtan, which is a recital of holy songs, all the devotees will get together chanting bhajans," says B K Vasudev, co-ordinator, state seva dal.

"On this occasion have also arranged for the Jhoola programme where renowned classical singer Padmashree Padmaja Phenani Joglekar of Mumbai will attend and perform," says Shashikant Nalawade, convener of the samiti, adding, “A picture of Satya Sai Baba will be kept in the cradle and his praises will be sung."

The celebration will also see kids from Bal Vikas where they will chant sholakas from Vedas before the audience. The chief guest for the occasion is Vilas Lande, MLA from Haveli Taluka.

Family matters
To check the rising cases of family breakups through divorce, Bethany Vedavijnana Peeth (BVP), in association with Kerala Pastors Fellowship is organizing a marriage preparation class today. The objective of the session is to give a true understanding of what makes a happy married life and responsible parenthood. The event was planned to guide young couples to be prepared for a commitment for life. Rav Fr Joaquim Fernandes SVD (Counseling in Psychology, De La Salle University, Manila) Rector of DWS, Pune has kindly consented to guide the sessions.
