Mercury to stay down, fog around the corner

Kolkata The cold wave that has gripped Kolkata is expected to continue at least till Wednesday, after which the Met department has predicted clear skies. Monday was hardly an improvement on Sunday — one of the coldest days this season when the maximum temperature plunged to ten degrees below normal. According to the Met office, maximum temperature on Monday was 17.2 degrees Celsius — ten degrees below normal — and the minimum 10.9 degrees Celsius — three degrees below normal. The forecast for the next 24 hours includes fog.
