Vadodara A Chinese police team was in Vadodara to question a Canadian national of Chinese origin, Xie Jing Feng alias Richard, who was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) last year.

Richard, along with two Malaysians of Indian origin, Ravindra Karpaya and Gunashekharan Pillay, was arrested with 1.5 kg methamphetamine, a very addictive stimulant drug, on November 20, 2008.

The Gujarat Police and the NCB have, meanwhile, declared Kirit Shah, who ran a unit that clandestinely manufactured meth, a wanted criminal in the state.

According to NCB officer Sanjay Patel, Richard had been questioned inside the Vadodara Central Jail for two days.

“Nothing significant came out of the questioning. The Chinese officers traced Richard’s whereabouts in China,” added the officer.

Patel said the three accused were taken to Mumbai recently by the NCB. “Some more arrests are likely soon,” he said.

Meanwhile, highly placed sources in Vadodara police said red-corner notices will be issued through the Interpol against Kirit Shah, the owner of Sakha Organics, for running the unit in Savli locality.

The unit was in operation for the last one and a half years, during which at least 30 litres of meth were produced and exported to various countries in Europe and the Americas.

“We have issued a nationwide alert against Shah and his accomplices,” said Patel.
