Rajkot Mineral theft to the tune of about Rs 2 crore has been found in two several cases in Jamnagar and Surendranagar districts. In Jamnagar, the Mines and Minerals Department, in its survey, has found the incidents of theft from the bauxite mines. The department's survey revealed bauxite theft to the tune of Rs 1.33 crore from land number 30 in Lamba village. The department has also seized a JCB machine The investigation revealed that bauxite to the tune of 4.36 lakh tonnes had been illegally dug by the accused.

The police said Chandrakant Jadav, a royalty inspector with Kalyanpur Mines and Mineral department, had registered a complaint of mineral theft against three persons from Lamba village — Jesa Chetaria, Naran and Ramesh Aher.

The police have registered an offence under IPC 379, Mines and Minerals Act 1957 and Gujarat Mineral Prevention of Illegal Mining and Transportation Rules 2005.

In another incident in Surendranagar, deputy collectors of Dhrangadhra, Limbdi, Chuda and Muli raided different places and caught the theft of coal to the tune of Rs 50 lakh. The authorities also seized six trucks containing 4.60 lakh tonnes coal during the raid.
