Patiala Punjab's Irrigation Minister Janmeja Singh Sekhon today ordered the registration of an FIR against Patiala's Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) for alleged misappropriation of funds.

Sources said the minister directed the registration of a case, after a probe report indicated misappropriation of funds while setting up of the Environment Park in Samana during the Capt Amarinder Singh-led regime.

Sources added that the probe report stated that though a total amount of Rs 37 lakh has been shown to have been spent on the setting up of Samana's environment park, only a few lakh were actually spent.

The probe was ordered by the minister at the earlier meeting of the District Public Grievances Committee, which he heads.

At today's meeting of the committee, when the probe report was placed, the minister got infuriated. The complaint was forwarded by local BJP leader Lakshman Dass Sewak.
