According to police sources, the daughter of a textile labourer of Shivnagar society, the 15-year-old girl had eloped with her boyfriend Anil Bihari, a resident of Sachin, on February 2. Anil had been living as a tenant in the girl's house, but was thrown out two months ago after the girl's father learnt about their affair. He also warned his daughter not to meet Anil and break off the relationship.
A month ago, the man left for his native place in Uttar Pradesh to attend a religious function. This was Anil's chance. He somehow managed to convince the girl to elope with him.
On February 2, the girl eloped with Anil and went to his house near the ice factory in Sachin. Anil raped her regularly promising her marriage all the time. But when the promises failed to materialise, the girl escaped on Monday and returned home. In the afternoon, her mother took her to the Punagam police station and lodged a complaint against Anil Bihari.
Sub-Inspector R H Pandya said: "The accused was working in a loom factory at Sachin. Anil used to lock her in the house whenever he went to work and raped her regularly. We are now looking for him. The girl's family has not lodged a case fearing that would tarnish the family's image. We have taken the girl to New Civil Hospital for medical examination."
