Minor killed in Outer Delhi road accident

New Delhi Two people, among them a minor, were killed, and two others were injured in separate accidents reported from the Capital.

A 10-year-old boy was killed when an unknown vehicle hit his bicycle in the Sultanpuri area of Outer Delhi on Thursday.

The police said the boy has been identified as Suraj. He was on his way back home with his father Ashok Kumar when the incident occurred.

The police said father and son were rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, where Suraj was declared dead on arrival. Ashok’s condition is stated to be stable. A case of causing death due to rash and negligent driving has been registered against unknown people, the police said.

Elsewhere, a 30-year-old motorcyclist was crushed by a Tavera in the Khajuri Khas area of Northeast Delhi on Thursday. The deceased, identified as Surender, was a resident of Sonia Vihar and was headed home around 11.45 pm when the incident occurred.

He was taken to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. His body was later sent for a postmortem. The driver of the Tavera has been arrested, police officers said.

In the third incident, a 35-year-old man was critically injured when a Blueline bus plying on route no. 539 (between Nangloi and Mehrauli) hit him in the Najafgarh area of Southwest Delhi on Thursday evening. The police said the incident occurred at a bus stop in the Najafgarh furniture market, when the victim, identified as Rajender, a resident of Firoz Gandhi Nagar in Gurgaon, was waiting for a bus.

The bus was trying to overtake another vehicle when it hit Rajender, who received severe injuries, the police said.

He is stated to be in a critical condition in Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital. The bus driver has been arrested for rash and negligent driving, police officers said.
