The National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions (NCMEI) on Tuesday declared that the appointment of "Valson Thampu as an OSD is patently illegal and inoperative". "His appointment cannot be justified under the cloak of minority autonomy. We recommend the university to take urgent corrective measures for reselection and appointment of a regular principal for the said college in accordance with the law," the order said. Reacting to the order, DU Vice-Chancellor Deepak Pental said they would decide on the matter once they receive the order from the NCMEI.
