If you fancy yourself a filmmaker, go ahead and shoot your movie on your cell phone and enter your film for the second International Film Festival of Cell Phone Cinema, which was inaugurated at the Asian Academy of Film and TV (AAFT) on Thursday. Rarely seen actor Hrishita Bhatt (below) graced the inauguration but preferred to allow AAFT director Sandeep Marwah to exult about the festival. “Cell-phone cinema is very spontaneous, quick and technically easy,” says Marwah. The competition is in the categories of fiction, electronic news gathering, still image and music videos. Apart from being original, the entries should not exceed three minutes. The shortlisted entries will be reviewed by a jury that includes filmmaker Saeed Mirza. The winner in the fiction category will receive a cash prize of $1,000, with $500 each being awarded to the winners of news and still image categories. Log on to batchbuzz.com and upload entries by January 18.
